YAY for new desks!

So, I have been using a folding "camping" table as a desk for nearly a year.  Small, unattractive and nearly always cluttered so I couldn't use it...FUN!  Here is a picture of said "desk":

Yep, that's what it looked like ALWAYS.  I hated it and never felt very creative using it.  We have a small living room though and i didn't want to get something too big as I was afraid it would overwhelm the small space.  Fastforward to last Sunday, I was at the store and saw a gorgeous cherry wood executive desk (with hutch!) on clearance from $250 down to $45!!!  Ok so I'm never one to pass up on a steal so I don't even think about it for half a second and call a kid over to help me load it up.

They load it into my car and I start off happily down the road.

I get home and realize its drawbacks.  A) it's in a really big box and I have to put it together, B) I try and get it out of the car (with Patrick's help) and it's I'm-not-even-kidding-500-lbs.  After a meltdown on the stairs, Patrick gets pissed I bought the damn thing and huffs off in a fit and refuses to help me so it's up to me to get this I'm-not-even-kidding-500-lb desk up the stairs. Sigh.

So what's a girl to do?  I open the damn box and take it up piece by piece.  It takes about an hour.  That's when I realize that this I'm-not-even-kidding-500-lb desk is going to be quite an endeavor to put together (by myself now, remember).  I get it all up the stairs, start organizing the pieces, unplug my computer and move all my desk stuff out of the way and get to work.  This is 7 PM on Sunday.  I'm up till 1 am working.  I get back up again at 8 am and continue working.  It's 3 PM before I get my computer turned back on and take this picture (mind you I haven't organized yet)

Yes, it's gorgeous.  Yes It's a week later and I'm still covered in cuts and bruises. Joy!  But I must tell you, I am IN LOVE with this desk. Love Love Love, Joy Joy Joy.  It's much bigger than my old "desk" but actually feels like it takes up less space in the room, how does that work?? LOL

So sitting at my new desk, I created two collabs and 3 layouts this week! Yay Me! Here are the kits I did this week:

Tell Me A Story with Heather Roselli:

Yes we drew all that fabulousness!  We made this in response to a request at SSD for a non-girlie fairytale kit and I just LOVE how it came out!

Also this week, I got to work with a dear friend and former Hawt Mama turned Sugar Babe and budding designer Meghan Mullens!  We decided to bring in pumpkin season in style with this gorgeous Pumpkin Patch/Harvest kit!

Notice the drawing involved here too, I'm apparently very creative at my new desk.  And mad props to Meghan! Doesn't she rock??

And here are my layouts from last night, I'm making an effort to scrap with my SSD stuff from one Saturday before I gorge myself on the next, so it was good motivation to get some layouts done last night, haha!!

Well thanks for listening to my ramble, LOL!  Have a happy Saturday!

That's my desk! Really! I have the same exact desk. I got it at K-Mart for $200 when I bought it back in 2006 before we left Beale.

Yep, another comment from me. LOL!

That page made me sad. I loved Bishop's so much when we were at Beale, we lived so close to the gate by Wheatland, Sean and I went when I was pregnant with Keira and then we took her when she was about 6 months old. Then we came to stupid Alaska. I love their Apple Cider. I honestly never thought i'd miss that place. LOL!

What a beautiful desk. I haven't really used a desk since I went digital because I use my laptop, but now that I am starting to do chipboard albums and such, I need to use one. So, now I am using one of those folding card tables, LOL!! I have it in our bedroom, since this is one of the only places I get any peace and quiet, LOL!!
